Sonsie, 327 Newbury St Boston, Massachusetts
I love Sonsie. That’s all I have to say. It’s simple and the menu can seem a bit limited depending on your mood, but they do things well there.
I’ve been a handful of times and have yet to have a bad meal. I hadn’t been in a very long time until this past weekend, Being girls we all got salad. But, not girlie salads. Julie & Katelyn each got the lobster salad, it was lobster tempura, over a salad and tofu, it looked amazing and was delicious. I had the steak salad. It was basically a deconstructed wedge salad- lettuce, tomato, blue cheese, a bit of bacon, and topped with steak. Hey, you gotta eat something of substance before a night on the town!
This is a great place when the weather warms up too if you can get a seat in the “cafe” area, they have garage doors that open onto the street and all the tables facing outward. I used to walk by with my Dad, usually on the way to Fenway for a Sox game, and he would walk by the open doors, pretend to lean over someone’s plate and say, “Oh hello, how’s your meal? May I try a bite?” This is where I get my humor, lord bless us all.
