Say whaaaaaaaaat?? $21 for a burger, lady you crazy!! I know, I know, it seems like an absurb amount to spend on a burger, especially when one that costs a mere pittance, $8 is readily available.
But. When a burger costs $21, the question must be asked, “So, how is it?” or, “Is it worth it?” Cube-mate Julie, Matt & I were on a mission to answer both these questions and more.
We ventured to Back Bay Social Club, a new watering hole & eatery here in Beantown. An article on Boston.com awhile back had the city’s best burgers (fancy ones) listed and this one looked mighty delish. As you may have remembered food is talked about a lot around the office and we’d been talking about this burger for months now.
Finally, a date was set and we were going. Curiousity indeed killed the cat, but I’m sure it was a poor, full & happy cat. Which pretty sums up how I felt post-burger. With an app and a couple of beers I walked out of there $45 the poorer, definitely full, and soooooo happy.
It was a burger experience if there ever was one. Similar to the 5 Napkin Burger experience from a couple of weeks ago, the Social Burger is topped with sauteed onions and sharp cheddar, atop a heavenly bun. (I would have a pic, but I didn’t bring my camera, and my iPhone does not have a flash. boo.)
The bun was a soft roll that held up to the sturdy burger. Though mine was overcooked (must remember to order burgers undercooked, note to self) it was still juicy and flavorful and oh-so-wonderful. $21 worth of wonderful? Eh, that has yet to be decided, but it was wonderful nonetheless.
And I absolutely love the presentation: (photo care of In & Around Town)
