Hello my loves! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day full of love and chocolate. I certainly did!
I have celebrated Valentine’s Day (with or without a Valentine per se) for as long as I can remember. My Mom is a huge fan of holidays or really any excuse to decorate. She especially enjoys doilies(see picture above). Yes, the silly paper doilies. But, every year, in the mail I get one of her hand-made Valentine’s and it makes my day.
In high school we would send candy-grams as a fundraiser, and in college I would spend the morning popping little notes or the pre-fab kid’s Valentine’s Day cards into my friend’s mailboxes at the Student Center. A few years ago, pre-engagement bonanza, I had a single ladies dinner party. And another year, I handed out Valentine’s at work.
This year, I made Valentine’s with the help of The Paper Source and a glue stick. I really love a good craft project! I also wanted all my friends to know (or more so) be reminded that I love them dearly and they mean so much to me. Single or not, everyone deserves a Happy Valentine’s wish!
I spent the day doing errands and cleaning house in preparation for a lovely V-Day meal. I bought groceries, flowers, cupcakes, put the bubbly in the fridge to chill, I prepared everything for a nice evening in. Who is this Valentine you may be asking yourself?
Why, it’s the most fabulous person I know. ME!
This is how I know I am an adult. I may not have a super serious or important job, be planning a wedding, or buying a house, but, BUT. I on my own accord, without anyone convincing me, chose to buy and make brussels sprouts. A thing only a real adult (or really weird 8 yr old) would do.
Of course all this maturity needed to be counterbalanced with dessert…
And that wasn’t even the best part,
Wait for it….
I’ll be posting about my recent trip to NYC later in the week!!
