Ok, so I’m not actually going back to school this year (which I usually look forward too, I love school supplies and the excitement of the first day!!) But, seeing as I’ve taken much of the summer off I am returning to you and going back to blog school.
The last time we spoke it was mid-July, correct? A lot has happened since then! A birthday, a trip to New York, a new roommate, a Bachelorette party ( no, no, not for me) and a wee bit of cooking. It’s been a hot summer here in Boston, and coupled with weekend trips, learning how to use my new computer (yay!) and some recent tummy troubles, I haven’t been much in the mood for any fancy cookin’ and bloggin’.
I did recently whip up a batch of my famous chicken enchiladas, which are still amazing. I owe it all to the recipe. And a Lemon Tart that I’d been wanting to make for awhile. I also got to enjoy some home cooking from my dear friend Kate, who I know I’ve mentioned before. She makes it look so easy and the results are always spectacular. I’m not even sure where to start… I took pictures of the interesting meals I’ve had throughout the past month or so, and of a couple of things made in La Cucina. Oh! I also read My Life in France by Julia Child. It was inspiring, made me nostalgic for Paris and want to do nothing but stay home and cook all day. Every day. I need to meet an independently wealthy man who will a) Financially support that endeavor, and b) Be my personal test kitchen. Any takers?
Besides that I’ve also been on a cook-book shopping spree, sadly no, not for me either; rather as wedding gifts for two of my friends. I won’t mention the particulars here yet, because they may be reading this and I don’t want to ruin the surprise. Let’s just say it was hard to not buy 2 copies of everything. One for me, one for you. Just looking at the registries alone is enough to make a girl like me want to tie the knot, if only for the sake of a KitchenAid stand mixer. Seeing as that is not in the forseeable future, I’m thinking of registering for myself, just because. You know, like Carrie considers doing in that episode of Sex & the City? Too much?
Instead, I will day dream about foreign lands and wonderous food and try to replicate a touch of adventure from right here inside my lil’ cucina. And continue to save for a trip to Paris that will hopefully be happening in April. And the Greek Isles. And Bali. (See, this is where Mr. Independently Wealthy would be helpful.)
