Sorry I went off the grid there for a bit. I took a trip to San Diego to see a buddy before he heads off to Hong Kong. We ate some good food, had some great laughs, saw some wild animals, enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice each morning and made a batch of fantastic sangria.
It was a great vacation, perfect break from the norm here in Boston.
Morning sight-seeing, the zoo, wild animal park, long afternoon by the pool, sangria in hand… I wish I had captured the floating bowl of sangria in the pool, it was the only way to keep it safe from the dogs.
The original plan Friday night was to make a sort of boeuf Bourguignon for dinner. Some sort of beef roast concoction. However, the beef was not cubed, and we were missing a few key ingredients, so we’ll call what we had for dinner, Boeuf Bourguig-Sean. Haha. It had some of the basic elements, beef, red wine, seasonings, potatoes, onions, it was quite hearty and satisfying after a rough day of vacationing.
The next night we went out for some legit SoCal mexican. It was, unfortunately, disappointing… it looks good:
But, eeek. I make a better chicken enchilada. No worries though, the West Coast made up for it with a fresh fish taco: (and the place made the best Patron Margarita I’ve had in awhile)
All in all, it was a great trip, I was sad to leave. I spent my last moments on the West Coast at Kansas City Barbeque, enjoying a brew at what is known in those parts as the “Top Gun Bar.” A-mazing. I wish we had had time to eat, but I was cutting it close to my flight. The food smelled so good, I’m gonna have to go get some solid BBQ soon (or make some.)
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I’ll post some new recipes soon, I promise!
