Hello friends… This weekend I went to the farm, Verrill Farm in Concord. They had the most fresh & colorful fresh produce, pick-your-own-berries, a full-service food market, it was fantastic. It’s nice to get out of the hustle & bustle of the city and see some green grass.
I went with my friend S, she is getting married at the farm this coming September, and as a wedding gift I offered to do her flowers- small table arrangements & her bouquet. I wanted to see the venue to get an idea of what the place looked like and what we could do with it. We’re thinking sunflowers in mason jars, nice & simple. Anyway, we went to the farm to check it out and get some lunch, I got one of my favorite treats:
The next day I was treated to a delicious home-cooked meal by my friend Kate. She never fails to impress me with her domestic skills, always the ultimate hostess, the meal was fantastic. We got to relax on the porch with some rose wine and appetizers, it was the perfect summer evening. Then came the feast: carrot salad, israeli couscous salad and salmon “burgers.” I say that because it was a broiled salmon filet, but we made them into sandwiches.
And again, I had one of those moments where the food was so good, I forgot to take a picture before I was done eating, so here’s the last bit of salmon burger:
Kate made an Avocado-mayo to top the salmon, which was broiled with cayenne, it was tasty. I had a fantastic meal with good friends, it was the perfect way to end the weekend.
One final note: I forgot to share this with you all last week, while I was out in the public garden reading, someone dropped a chip and a squirrel promptly went to town on it… so here’s a picture of a squirrel enjoying his afternoon snack:
