More like Fat Friday Saturday Sunday & Monday…this weekend was quite the food extravaganza. My logic was this: If I am giving up processed/junk foods and going out to eat for 6 weeks, why not just have one more weekend of everything that’s horrible? It began Friday nice & early, with a deliciously flaky and sweet and sticky pecan bun from this lil’ café near my apartment for breakfast. I then went to lunch with a friend and ate an entire sub. I nearly took a nap on my desk after that one. For dinner, I stayed in to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympics and ordered a pizza. Unless the measly piece of lettuce on my sub counts, or the tomato sauce on the pizza- I didn’t eat a single vegetable, yuck! Oh, wait, that’s wrong. We got a salad with the pizza, but it was one of those sad pizza joint salads- iceberg lettuce, a few carrots, cukes and green peppers, not exactly a wealth of vitamins.
Of course the most sensible thing then would have been to right my nutritional wrongs on Saturday, but no. I took the low road. The weekend was progressively worse, burger on Saturday, Valentine’s Cupcake and rich Italian dinner on Sunday, and to top it all off, movie popcorn, grilled cheese for lunch and the most amazing steak dinner Monday night. So my friends, I will try to have a better day today, but I am heading to the suburbs tonight for some shopping with the girls, and let’s be honest, we’ll probably end up at the Cheesecake Factory. 🙂
