Now, to not just be another food blog, because, there are plenty of amazing ones out there, and I am not going to claim to be the next Giada (though the name of my blog may be misleading, it sounds a lot better than Angela’s Kitchen, booooring!) I wanted my blog to have a theme to start us off, a mission, a challenge.
Also in light of my recent curiosity into nutrition and mindful eating, I’ve been doing a lot of researching online, reading, and talking. The recently published Food Rules, and the upcoming season of Lent have led me to a daunting task: 40 days and 40 nights of nothing but freshly prepared good food. To most people this may seem like a no-brainer, but when you’re a girl on the go, you don’t think twice about grabbing a cereal bar, or a frozen meal every now and then. And there’s a lot hidden (even in the good stuff!) – additives like sodium, sugar, preservatives- things that just aren’t natural.
There is a better way to fuel my busy life and that will be the challenge- to go with out processed foods for Lent, and hopefully thereafter. If I can’t conceivably cook it, I’m not going to eat it. I’ll be spending a lot more time in the kitchen and I hope improving my health (and cooking skills) along the way.
